His many awards include MVP in the
first two Super Bowls, NFL Man of
the Year, Professional Player of the
Decade and winner of the Byron White
Award (NFL's award for citizenship
and the person who best displays the

athlete). He was inducted into the
Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1977.
In 1997, he was honored with the
Vince Lombardi Award of Excellence
(past recipients have included
George Bush, Norman Schwarzkopf and
Pete Rozelle).
Athletes in Action established the
Bart Starr Award, which is given
annually to one NFL player who
exemplifies leadership and
humanitarianism. Recipients since
1988 have included Steve Largent,
Mike Singletary, Anthony Munoz and
Reggie White.
