It
takes perseverance and commitment to
make dreams come true – but what
happens when one dream isn’t enough?
How do you excel at two demanding
careers without losing your focus?
Dot
Richardson has
the answers because she’s done it.
Captain of the Olympic softball team
that took home the gold in both 1996
and 2000, she was putting herself
through medical school even as she
was training to be a world class
athlete. The result was a triple
crown – gold medals, recognition as
a highly skilled orthopedic surgeon,
and the role of medical director at
the groundbreaking USA Center for
Sports & Health – a state-of-the-art
athletic training and medical
facility. Humble, funny and
articulate, Richardson draws on her
experiences on the diamond and in
the O.R. to illustrate the
importance of passion, team playing
and the power of a strong work
ethic. Richardson, who also serves
as vice-chair of the President's
Council on Physical Fitness and
Sports, is an inspiration to anyone
who seeks to get more out of life.
