graceful center fielder with a
picture-perfect swing, Duke Snider
was the biggest bat in the Brooklyn
Dodgers' potent lineup of the 1950s.
He hit 40 or more homers five
consecutive times and led all
batters in home runs and RBI during
the 1950s. "The Duke of Flatbush" is
the only player to hit four homers
in two different World Series (1952
and 1955), while his 11 Series home
runs and 26 RBI are the most ever by

hit 407 career homeruns and tied the
N.L. record with 40 or more round
trippers five years in a row,
1953-1957. He batted .300 or better
seven times in compiling .295
lifetime average. Topped League in
slugging percentage twice and total
bases three times. He was also the
first to hit four homers in a World
Series twice, in 1952 and 1955.
Snider played for the Brooklyn and
Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets,
and the San Francisco Giants. Duke
was elected in the Hall of Fame in
1980.
