Highlight of 2003 was
his victory in the Las Vegas
Invitational, his fourth win on the
US PGA Tour and his first since
1999. The win pushed him through the
$10 million mark in career earnings
and helped him finish 12th on the US
PGA Tour Money List, his highest
finish since he joined the tour in
1996. Also helped him qualify for
the International team at The
Presidents Cup in South Africa. A
former Australian Rules Football
player, he was raised on a dairy
farm, where he used to hit golf
shots from paddock to paddock once
his chores were completed. After
missing the cut in the 1998 Open
Golf Championship, experienced the
tragic death of wife Renay outside a
train station in London. The Renay
Appleby Memorial Trophy was created
by officials in New South Wales and
is given annually to the Australian
state's best female junior golfer.
To the delight of his many friends
throughout the golfing world, he
found happiness again when he
married Ashley in 2003.
